Thread: Need help ID'ing these Items

Can someone identify this backing plate and front drum. I know the axle I am using came from a 1951 Chevy truck and the spindles are from 1949-1954 Chevy also but I have no idea what the backing plates came off of except possible a car.

I have check the pattern on the drum against truck drums from those years and nothing matches so that's why I am thinking they are off of a passenage car but not sure of the year. I need to know this info so I can buy the correct spring kits and shoes.

Appreciate any help you folks can give here.

Doesn't bring up anything for me...got any numbers on the pieces, rat?

Measure the distance between the top hole the one directly below it for the sindle bolts. 3 13/16" center to center is passenger car and 4 5/16" is the pickup.

I measured like you said, I am now thinking possible truck???

If I remember correctly My 50 chevy pickup used a standard chevy 4&3/4 bolt pattern wheel.That was many moons ago, but I do remember that after replaceing the stock rear end with a 12 bolt camaro posi that I was extremely happy that the full set of big and little centerlines that I had bought with the camaro rear bolted right up. Maybe this useless info might help.

They are '51-'54 Chev car brakes and backing plates.'49 and '50 were Hucks brakes, different and not much good.

Not that I can locate Dave. I was hoping someone would know the drum by the hole pattern in it. I tried matching it to truck drums but didnt have any luck there either.

I need to find out what they are so I can get my brake goodies and start running the lines.
