I am replacing my plug wires and my longest old wire was 41 inches long and the resistance value was 11K ohms.
I am putting Accel Spiral wound wire on and the resistance for a 42 inch wire is 1.9 - 2.0K Ohms.
That is about 9K ohms difference.
Is that too low of a resistance for spark plug wire and is it safe to run it or will it cook something?
My engine is pretty much stock with a stock HEI setup w/ vacuum advance.
We used to run solid core copper with ZERO resistance, but it played hell with anything electronic, even the TV inside the house when you would pull up into the driveway...:LOL:
Nothing will cook. Use a name brand spiral wire as some skimp on wire quality and they will not last as long.

IMHO, anything much over 500 ohms is too much.
I wondered why spark plug wires had such high resistance when we're doing everything we can to produce a bright spark. Now I know.
