A few months ago in one of my rod mags there was feature on someone who did a steel roof fill but it wasn't welded in. He left the channel intact and made a steel insert with a lip to fit in the channel, then covered that with vinyl. I'm sure I saved the mag but don't remember which publication it was in and now I can't find it.:( Does anyone remember the feature and which mag it was in?

There was an article in the July 2008 Rod & Custom where Dave Lane did this on George Poteet's 32 sedan delivery using Bobby Walden's insert.

That isn't the same article but it does show a new lip being installed. The article I'm looking for shows the actual forming of the lip on the panel and how it attaches to the factory lip in the top. It may even have been Walden in the article. I suspect now that I should go through my latest R&Cs for the article. Thanks again for steering me in the right direction.
