Dammit!!!!!! I seemed to have overtightened the temp sensor into the radiator and it galled on the way out. Praying that the tap I buy tomorrow will be able to save my butt.......

If it is an NPT pipe tap. You can go a little deeper. As long as is is not flush with the surface of the radiator. Then if the fitting bottoms out you can take a little off the top of the the weld bung.

Your pickup would be very rare down here but I like them.
if this is a tapered pipe thread.......DO NOT try to run it all the way in. With the tapered threads, as the taper goes in it will crack the fitting opening. Remember always to use "never seize" on any 2 different types of metal that are screwing into each other.

Yeah........unfortunately, I remembered that about the time I needed to use muscle to get the fitting out.
It is an aluminum radiator w/ NPT fitting.
Couldn't work on it tonight - but will be after it this weekend.

Just miffs me as if I had not screwed that up, I'd be driving it tonight.... DOH!

Well.... pulled the radiator. Looks like at least half of the threads bit it, not leaving me enough to be comfy with. ARGH!!!!! Will take to machine shop or radiator shop to see if they can get that bung off and weld in a new one.

OK..... local hot rod shop saved my butt and was able to save the bung that I screwed up. Radiator is in. :-) Now, I don't think the t-stat is opening, or the temp sender is off as the temp gauge is climbing to 230 degrees, but the radiator is cool - no flow.
Think I'll pull the t-stat and leave it out for now to know for sure I am flowing coolant and put in the old sender and see what happens....then maybe I can get to timing it in and see about that high idle.....
