Can someone tell me what is the best 6v electric fuel pump for a 51 Merc with a 3/4 race engine.It has 2 97 strombergs on it.
I have a Stewart Werner on it that quit working.I took it off and hooked it straight to the battery. It is like their is no juice going to it.
Speedway sell a 6v Carter, I've used 1 and it was good but although you don't need a regulator with this pump you will with 97's as it pumps 6psi and the 97's won't like that much pressure.

Get a good regulator and set it at at 2-1/2 PSI. Really, anything more and the Strombergs will run rich (ask me how I know that? - Oh, well I didn't listen to my father and as usual, he was correct. Reduced pressure and leak went away and car ran very smooth off idle without the black sooty cloud!)

I will check out the carter.I do have a regulator on for the carbs I know that the 97's only want 2 1/2 t0 3 psi.
