Oil Leaking
Hey I'm new to this forum and new to working on carsa but have a general understanding. I own a 1970 Nova with a 454. When i bought the car it leaked a little oil out of the passenger side valve cover but not much at all. I just bought new valve covers and it suddenly got worse. i then tried different gaskets. Now it's pouring out oil so much i not sure it is even from the valve covers. Any ideas on where it might be coming from? or things i might need to check? thanks

you have main seals front and back. I would check there if it is a big leak.

rear intake manifold seal.

check your oil level then start engine and look for leak. you could have the gasket on wrong. Before you start pulling parts off engine try to find what is the source. If your not sure ask someone for help most parts stores have people who would love to help you out. Good luck

What breather setup do you have? Typical factory would be a closed system (below) whereas aftermarket tend to be an "open system" - breather in one valve cover and a breather with a PCV vent in the other that is connected to a vacuum port below the carb like the open system below.
It is critical to have good ventilation or the blowby (yes, there's always some) will cause all kinds of leaks to appear. the "looser" the engine, the more the blowby and the greater the internal crankcase pressure..

yep breather could be it. as some valve covers are not baffled
