9" short yoke

9" short yoke

My car has 3.25 rear gears which mean it needs some help in the performance department. My 3.70 spare 9" needs a short 1310 yoke and of course, set up (there is no spacer, crush or solid). The 3.25 has a solid spacer and shims but my question is, which is better/easier to use? I don't race nor do I need to disassemble this rear end. I do have a spare crush spacer that can be used (assuming I can find it:HMMM:)

Anyone have a spare 1310 short yoke they would like to part ways with? Or do I just do the Currie thing?

how many cush sleeve do you want ? i have some if you need one . i use shims there better and for me Ez to use.abit more time to setup but stays were you set it. cushing the sleeve is a pain if your old and have bad arms :(

Pat - I REALLY don't want to use the crush sleeve if the solid/shim way is better as I know that I'm even more ancient then you and probably even more puny:LOL::LOL: (I do have a 2' long 300# torque wrench that does make it a bit easier tho)

yep they make them used many of them all the 9s i did that way . i am not big just getting wider and weaker :D

the 9 inch crush sleeve is one of the only original 1957 part numbers that is still available under the original number----they still use it in the one ton trucks!!!( the sleeve, not the 9 inch)

They do?? I have to say that my '06 1 ton F350 has two heluva lot bigger pinion yokes then the two 9 inchers. Now I'm curious and if it ever stops raining and it hasn't floated away gonna crawl under it and see what I can see:eek::D

Strange Engineering Part number N-1925 two piece spacer kit with shims $19.80

This kit is made so that some smaller dia shims are held internally in a recessed area between twe two pieces---saves buying several solid spacers or surface grinding to make thinner ones---this is the TRICK part you need to completely get away from the crush sleeves and of coursethe shims for the pinion housing and the adjustable side bearings in a removable pumpkin is what mades the 9 er so popular, not the strngth---

Thanks Jerry - I will take a look at that Strange part and order accordingly once I fully understand the concept - that along with the yoke I need
