I recently replaced my tank in my 50 Merc. I'm not getting any preasure to the carb and I'm thinking the couplers conecting the tank to the fuel line may be restricting the flow. Would an electric fuel pump solve the problem or am I better off staying with the mechanical pump and doing something about the line? any sugestions?

Check a couple things - first, that you aren't sucking air - that is all of the fittings are tight and there aren't any split hoses. I just redid several of my fuel line AN fittings and had one that was sucking air - no gas/no start. Fixed it and within 2 turns on a dry line with a few drops of prime gas down the carb, I was up and purring
Next, unless you have an EFI, that tank needs to be vented by either a separate check valve or the gas cap.
I didn't mention that the merc has a chevy front clip with a 327. This setup was started by my brother who passed several years ago, I finished the project a few yeras ago. There are no cracks in the line and venting is not an issue since I haven't placed a cap on the fill tube yet. I had to use a few fittings to get the original flaired fuel line to connect to the new tank, I think the reduction of diameter in the fittings could be my problem.
also look for a kink in a line, but what Dave said is the way to go too.
