I am putting a 283 in a Model A project. I would like to run a 500 CMF carb.Ive run 600's on this engine and would like to step down. I know an Edelbrock 1404 is 500. What other carbs out there are around that.

What were the carbs on the old 283/270 hp engines, weren't those two WCFB's. I think those were around 500 cfms, or at least close to that.

i thought they were 450's?
you could always use a holley 500 2bbl them are dang good carbs.:D
i run the holly 390 cfm on mild street sbc and sometimes the 450 cfm.
The 390 may be a good option. I am looking for a 4 barrel. Gonna run an old CH4B Edelbrock intake.Quote:
