Hello People, I have an older Accel distributor that fits sloppy in my Offy intake. It tightens down ok, but i was wondering if anyone thinks this could develope into a problem with wear on the oil pump shaft. When loose it has about an 1/8" side to side movement.

IMHO, anything with Accell stamped on it would find it's way into the trash bin. That much slop should make timing a headache amongst other things. A stock HEI unit would serve you better.
Hi, I can't get an HEI in there, running a tri power intake and clearance is a problem.
i seen them like that it will work not so much the dist but the hole in the intake abit on the big side last one i made up a bushing for it .
Mr Gasket #2822 fixes the problem taht thier sister company (Accell) creates. Hmm.
the holes in manifolds have always been bigger than the distributers--that keeps a poorly fitting intake from forcing your dist and oil pump drive off center---engines where the dist goes directly into the block will fit better
Jerry, Would the distrib gear or cam gear not be a bigger concern here? Just asking because i remember back in the 70's when my race Camaro wore the bronze gear and took my gear of my roller cam.Quote:
