S10 rear end yoke
I have a yoke from a first gen S10 that has a large conical weight attached, probably weighs 10 lbs +, what's this for? The truck had a 2 piece drive shaft and I know they had some problems with vibration, one S10 I owned had a special shock mounted horizontal to the rear end to help dampen vibration related to pinion angle under acceleration.
The weight on the yoke is causing clearance issues in Model A and I need to replace it. Anyone ever seen one of these weighted yokes? Can you replace it with a standard yoke?

Sounds like you have figured it out already. Makes sense to me that the weight is a balancer, judging by the hole drilled in it to bring it to specs. If you no longer have the stock 2-piece driveshaft, I wouldn't see where the balancer would be necessary. I'm just shootin' from the hip here, but that's how I see it.PLANET EARTH, INSANE ASYLUM FOR THE UNIVERSE.

If that ring is just bonded to the yoke you should be able to put it in a press and remove it.
And then a newer model....
