Need help with the Rochester 2G center carb on the tri-power setup on my 32 coupe.
For some reason that is beyond me, it pulls the metal rod out of the plastic body of the accelerator pump assembly. It then jams the pump in the carb housing so that there is only about half throttle left on the center carb.
Has anyone experienced this before? It's the correct accelerator pump assembly according to NAPA and will work for about a week before it goes south.
Appreciate any ideas or help!

could be the pump linkage needs to be adjusted(bent) bottoming the piston in to the well ..... pump shot travel is to long ????
If you can find one of the old all metal ones, replace the rubber with a medium thickness leather and use a fine coat of Vaseline when you install it. you could have a nick in the accelerator pump chamber causing the pump to curl and/or bind.
Thanks Guys, I don't think the piston is bottoming out, but I'll check that as well as walls of the pump chamber.
I'd Love to find an all metal pump nobody around here still carries them, just the plastic jobs, possibly because of the
10o/o ethanol gas.
If you come up with any other ideas please post as I'm going through a lot of pumps!

Is there a bur inside the bore along side by slot???
if your busting the plastic body off push rod then some thing is bottoming out . if nick in the bore you would just cut the seal .so it taking to much pressure to work the pump .like bad check ball or junk .the plastic one may not be as good as a metal body one still should not fail many of them carbs have used that plastic body on pumps
Only things I can think of is that the plastic part wasn't bonded well to the metal rod to start with, or there is some bad bind causing it to knock the end off. Those plastic ends aren't as strong as the metal ones, but unfortunately, those are all you can find these days.
I would try a different kit, use the pump assembly, and make sure it is perfectly in line and not bottoming out or binding.

them thing,s were made like potatoe chips in BC i knew of one or two basements 30 years ago that had many new parts for them :) i have not seen a all metal body pump in many years . i think the pump rod was not bonded to the pump body it could move abit ??????? to many years way to many brain cells lost .that arm lever up top in the carb is not hooked up to the pump right ?? has someone been in there ?

I think I may have found the problem and the problem was me!
The way I had the progressive linkage adjusted to get the two outer carbs to fully open it was opening the center carb too wide and the accelerator pump lever was exerting a bunch of pressure on the pump itself. The lever was hitting the top of the pump chamber and pulling the pump apart.
The outer carbs have some small stiff coil springs to keep the butterflies closed so it takes quite a bit of pedal pressure to open them.
Any how I hope I've got it fixed and I sure do thank all who responded.
