A/C fitting torq spec
I just installed a new A/C system that uses O-Ring style fittings. How tight should the fittings be? I don't know of a specific torque spec to compare it to, of course you can't use a torque wrench but it would be nice to get an idea where to start. Would the spec be inch-pounds or in ft-pounds?
I used compressor oil to lube all fittings before assembly, at this point I just snugged all connections.

Once the O rings are lubed, basically getting them tight without over doing it should be enough.

I asked Vintage Air the same question as their IB doesn't say (nor does anyone else's). They need to be snug enough so you don't destroy the O rings nor come loose with driving or working nearby. This was the gist of the answer they gave me. Then I took it off 'for the next build'Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug

I've never heard a torque spec for the fittings either...I always go just a bit beyond snug, kind of like AN fittings, takes a light feel on the wrench or ratchet to get them right... I have a set of crowsfoot line wrenches that I use on both, some get a bit tough to reach.... The tubing on the Vintage Air fittings is aluminum, plus the O rings, really easy to over torque the fittings and damage the O ring....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
In our neighborhood, 2 blocks down the hill was a gas station that (to me) all the cool car guys hung out there. 32 coupes, 33 & 34 Fords as well, a sweet 56 Ford Beach wagon that was setup gasser...
