Yes, I'm glad I never recessed the license plate into the deck lid of my '37. Sure, it's practical and all but I think I prefer a plain smooth deck lid. Would be nice if we didn't have to have the ugly license plate to deal with at all but such is not the case. And in CA we're supposed to put one on the front, too! Argh!!Quote:

got ya. that is a fiberglass dash with convertible top padding on it. we are building a metal original dash to put in it. just redid the whole car this year.

Shine, those wood consoles are beautiful! I saw a dash of a 39 or 40 ford that was all wood grained in the GG's gazette this past weekend. How do guys do that? Paint or a decal?

I'm going with the walnut for my bed. Was the stuff you used on the 37 Ford clear or the darker grain and what stain/clear did you use? I like how it turned out....an orange/red hue.

it was dark walnut with no stain. the color is picked up from the bed color. i sealed the wood then cleared it. so far it has held up.
there are tools and techniques to wood grain metal.
