Finally after months and months of trying to figure out which direction I was going with on my engine it's final. :LOL::LOL::LOL: 4.0 Whipple. I have lots of room to grow if I want. The below links are for a fellas 04 GTO LS (408) with the 4.0 ltr. Met him on another site. He's said he got 800 hp on 12 PSI with belt slippage above 4500 rpm and IAT issues. Then bumped up to 20 psi but only gained 50.....real bad belt slippage. I think their going with a wider cog belt to fix this. Not going to be an issue for me cause I'm shooting for 550 hp max on present set-up with LS6 243 casting heads.
Pros:
Can get both the cathedral port or larger LS2 port bases. Get to keep my fuel injection. Not as big physically as the 6-71 roots I was looking at so it will all fit under the hood but because it's a 4.0 ltr, it'll still fill my engine bay due to the built in intercooler under the lobes. Whipple has a lot of pulley options. And best of all, much cheaper than the Blower Shop LS set up I was looking at.......almost half the price which will leave me more money to massage the bottom end later for more boost.
Cons: I can't find any, other than the money that I was already going to spend on either a Magnusson or Blower Shop set-up.
Anyone use Whipple themselves? I know they've been around a while and seem to have a good name.
