no luck
I never intended to have two projects going at once, but boy am I having nothing but hard time with both.
The 73 charger has issue with intake manifold gasket, apparently the wrong type was used and didn't hold. Overheating and oil in coolant and vise versa.
When I picked up my 69 nomad, after having the 383 dropped in, I commented that the idle was a bit high. He said it wouldn't idle in gear any lower. Well I Took it to someone who is more knowledgeabe on carbs. This guy, Tony, took one look at it and said it is too much cfm for this altitude. Well, he put a 600 on to replace the 750, and the idle got worse. Well Tony hates accel, and decided the ignition was the problem. In retrospect that doesn't jive, as that is the same HEI from the 350 which has done just fine for the last six years. Anyway, I ordered a compound test guage, checked fuel pressure, 7 psi solid. Then I checked vacuum, it was way low. So I started squirting carb cleaner and seems there is a leak at right rear.
I'm starting to feel cursed..
Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

Sorry for your loss of friend Mike McGee, Shine. Great trans men are few and far between, it seems. Sadly, Mike Frade was only 66 and had been talking about retirement for ten years that I know...
