guage my success

Ok, I finally made some headway on my 69 nomad.

The fuel guage hasn't worked since I got it. Today I finally got the beast into the craft shop on post. I had to cut the exhaust tip to drop the tank. Found an upper strap on the tank which surprised me. Got the tank out, pulled the sending unit. Found it reading dead short. Popped the case off the sensor, and the contact didn't look right. I adjusted the contact finger, reassembled, and got good reading. The ground wire was broken off also. I pried the tabs off, and crimped the wire back in. Threw the tank back in. And welded the tip back on.

Drove straight to the gas station, and happy to say, the guage reads near perfect.

Total cost after bay fees, $50. Estimate from the shop, $300.
