All I know about the materials used for rhino liners is it uses a gun that mixes the applied material as it is being sprayed.I don't know much about the prep before hand(I guess the surface is scuffed up)
I know there are some home applied material(but don't know who offers it). So what is special about the material rhino liner over the other ones that are out there??. And who offers a good quality home applied one and does those require a special gun to apply it??.:confused:
I use SPI Bedliner, and it's great stuff. They offer a spray gun that is adjustable, so you can get about any finish you want (smooth, textured or anything in between)-it is a 2-part product, it stays a little flexible (which I like), and sticks like glue. It is tintable, so you can match your paint, if desired-all-in-all, I think it's hard to beat-

Herculiner, as has been mentioned many times here - roller applied, two or more coats and it's durable Herculiner Truck Bed Liners

In my experience I originally thought that Rhino was the way to go, nice kind of pliable material...but it is no equal to Florida Sunshine!!!! 3 years after installation is was turning gray and peeling off.Quote:

My experience with Rhino Lining: Had a truck bed done in silver. After perhaps 3 summers, the silver was getting faded and the yellowish polyurethane was showing thru. Had the interior of the Jeep done in silver also. Both are slicker than snot on a glass door knob if you have water on your shoes. Even when dry, the stuff in the bed slides much easier than it does on a painted surface. Bed still dents. Only advantage is perhaps the liner doesnt scratch like paint will. However, we pushed a couple of welding tanks into the bed and it rubbed the silver layer of Rhino off a bit. Now, I use a heavy bed mat that is easily removable and let the scratches fall where they may on the sides.
Commercial polyurethanes are a two part mix that is mixed at the gun tip. Aftermarket "do it yourself" liners are usually a one part mastic type material that is similar to undercoat.

Not a problem. I used Herculiner on the bottom of the '33, and I have several friends who have used it as an interior liner in Jeeps, removing the carpeting and coating for protection. the spi bedliner is really good stuff. you can reduce it a little if you want and get a smoother texture. the bed liner is clear. you add a tube of black color or you can use 16 ounces of color . i love the stuff now. i shoot it over lizardskin on the bottom.
for a truck bed the soft bed liner works best. things dont slide as much. cant remember which one it is ,somebody help an old man....

I just got a quote for rhino liner/Z-bart for Rufus of $850.:eek:I want to rhino line type product the wheel wells of the project Astro van too.So I figured doing it my self would be better.
