I didn't get a chance to review whats there but there are some pics during construction of a set set I built for a 32 that I built for a customer--stainless, nascar type merge collectors and stainless Cobra type side pipes
I sold this car in 2000, but here are the side pipes I built for it. The photo was taken before I sent everything off to be Jet-Hot coated. My headers were from Sanderson and they will build a header extension to any length you want. I put a regular glass pack inside the collector rather than use one of their inserts so I could cut down on the noise level somewhat.
My recent thread http://www.clubhotrod.com/hot-rod-ta...imonial-2.html shows the lakes style headers that I built, and there's a shot of rumrumm's (Lynn's) previous roadster there, too. There're a bunch of pictures of the American Grafitti style on project thx138's threads - http://www.clubhotrod.com/deuce-den/...tml?highlight= Did you try the search feature?
One thing I want to warn you about regarding side pipes: never wear shorts, always wear jeans when you drive it. Because sooner or later you are going to burn you leg on the side pipe.
Attachment 53870Attachment 53871Attachment 53872Mine aren't really side pipes as they have caps, so I guess they are actually "lakes pipes". They run from the headers under the frame at a slight angle towards the back.
My exhaust is all stainless but I don't like the looks of stainless after it heats up so I had it media blasted and painted with Eastwoods hi-temp black and it has held up well.
Mick
That looks really good, Mick. Nice choice of color on the pipe.
This isn't a "street rod", but has side pipes. Both used to function, but currently only the RH side does.

I covered mine with perforated stainless, but that doesn't show up very well in this photo upon first glance.
Russ
That is a damn nice Bucket Russ and I certainly like the two pipes each side from the normal four into one that most T's have.
Side pipes ? You bet great look and sound, his and hers. What kind of car are you looking to hang them on?
This is what I'm gone hang 'em on.
Yes, it needs them, you will never regret that decision. Should really make that hotrod come alive. BTW rear tires were a good choice.
Do it, she's screaming for some throaty 50" pipes with chrome shields!
