Rich.......bought the same cherry picker from HB frieght about 3 yrs.ago. I used it to put in my SB Mopar w/trans. It worked great and had no problems. Like that fact that it folds up and sits in a corner of my shop out of the way.
I have even used it for other heavy lifting and again, no problems.
Thanks for the quick reply ...I`m off to grab one now.....
I have the one with the folding legs, and the only problem I have had with it is that the Cylinder quit lifting and holding-I bought another Cylinder ($70?), and, so far, it is working well-
I've had a Harbor Freight cherry picker for at least 15 years and pulled more engines than I can count with it. The wheels are getting to where they dont steer very well anymore but the things still works good.
bought mine over 20 years ago used the crap out of it still going strong
i need to stock up on the dreidel and heavy duty slide whistle. been to the place first time this year hard to walk out with only one thing . some of the stuff is cheap junk but some of it.s not bad for the money
couple more coupons if anyone's interested. hope the size comes out okay.
Rich, looks like you already have plenty votes of confidence but thought I'd add my two cents.....I bought one off craigslist 5 years ago for $80. It had been used once. I've used it to pull the engine in and out of my '37 several times, lift the bed off my truck and a bunch of other heavy lifting. I'm about to use it to swap engines in my truck, too. It's been great!!! I figure when I get finished with it in a few years I'll put it back on craigslist and get my $80 back....:LOL:
I also recently bought a 1000lb HF engine stand on craigslist for $20. Also only used once. Sure you can pay more but for the home car builder/hobbyist, why?? :)
Grab one of those cordless hammers and some Bono safety glasses while you're at it.....LOL!!!
As I got there, this was their lightest model....very thin material, so I `ll wait till they have the next size up on sale...
This guy has a 2 1/2 ton he's asking $175obo in your area. Maybe he'll make you a great deal....
A/C MACHINE AND SHOP EQUIPMENT
Maybe it's just me, but I kind of like the carpenters dradel, and the whale knife.
So is mine!! I'm trying to make it last until I figure out the wiring harness on the Mustang 5.0/HO EFI/AOD I'm about to put in it. The truck is my daily driver so I have to plan it all for minimal down time. I'm excited about the change and hopefully lots better mpgs.....
For what it's worth, here's my cherry picker in action.....the pic is a little dark but I've had no issues with it at all. Pulling that big ass 352FE/cruiseomatic outa my truck will put it to the test, I guess....:D

Bought mine used. Was nearly new.It is the folding leg kind. The only complaint I have is the holes for the pins for the legs don't line up perfectly.I have to lift it up just alittle to slide those pins in.
works great for every thing..I used it to put my beam up too.
For any of you that decide to replace the pump on one of these, try to get a double action pump. They move fluid on both the down and up stroke..............we geezers need to conserve energy wherever possible..........
Ya gotta know how to sneak past the moderator Randy...........................:D
bought mine at tractor supply. the folding legs i like. i hate having one setting around taking up the room of a car. had it for several years so no problem except the pumps are really cheap and slow. but most are.
by the way , the pins dont line up until the extra wheels clear the floor. reason you have to lift it a little.
been my experience the only thing at hf worth carrring out the door is the cash register .....
I have a cheapie folding leg hoist, can't say it's the same model, but odds are good. I managed to tweak it some years back, snatching the engine and trans out of a crumpled dodge, but never any trouble out of the cylinder
Mine is an old HF from 10 years ago or so. Bought it used from a closed down marine service. Cylinder is getting weak and using fluid, but it still works fine. I don't think they make the model anymore, but they did for a long time.
Randy,,you can put that big assed 352 into an envelope and post it to me,ta very much.. Got a couple of projects here that would love to have that sitting in them..
And while I'm thinkin about it,,one of those 18 volt cordless hammers would be kool..I only got a 14 volt jobbie....hehe,,and a rotary nosepickers kit to,,for Johnboy's next birthday..
