Wow.....you mean the crank snout was broken off?? How the heck does that happen? I seen motors with blowers have issues with the front of the crank, but jeez...thats not good....
glad you made it home safe too, Smart to go for new if same or cheaper for repair. Bummer news though!
Could be that the crank shearing off would be a result of the harmonic balancer was loose & wobbley creating one heck of a viberation. Maybe not though, maybe the balancer issues started from a cracked/broken crank?
Whatever it was, it is now an expensive repair.
