I am trying to figure a way to install modern leather seats in my 1959 Chevy. I am having a devil of a time mocking up brackets.
Anyone else swapped out to modern buckets?

There's a ton of aftermarket brackets out there, depending on the seats you choose and how much adjustment you want fore & aft. You may have to modify them some to fit your specific application, but places like Speedway, Jegs and Summit all list several. Here's a link to Summit that popped up with a Google "Seat Brackets" - Seat Brackets at SummitRacing.com: Original Parts Group, Goodmark, Scat/Procar, Smittybilt & more Some of the "Universal" brackets should work for what you're doing.
Newer seats mount in so many different ways that I would keep the mounts off the bench and try to find another set and then adapt them to the seats that you want to use.
Good idea, but the bench has two, and the buckets will need two each. Ideally you can get mounts with the buckets you're going to use, and modify/adapt them to fit the '59? That's what I did, unbolting the Fiero seats from the bottom side of the Fiero, then mounting the stock sliders to the floor of the '33. Luckily both were dead flat!Quote:

Roger, that why I said to find another bench seat from the era and take the seat mounts, that's what I did to mount a set of buckets in a 62 1/2 ton.

I used the Speedway seat slider floor brackets, welded up some risers with rectangular tubing and bolted them in place. Almost all buckets have just four bolts to the floor - and you go from there:

Yep - the welding looked like bird turds as the gas regulator was on its way out of its life span

I got a complete set of leather seats out of a 2003 jeep Cherokee but I took the mounting brackets too. I'm putting them into a 1950 chevy sedan. I'll use angle iron mounted to the floor and painted. Getting the height correct is the hardest.
