well what i saw was that someone has welded on the old pick up tube ,, i am hoping that when it got hot it lost suction ,, so i am going back with stock oil pan and stock oil pick up tube ,, press in , do i need to use lock tight or silicon or anything whenn pressing it in ??? i know that the pick up need to be 1/4 off the bottom
thanks hope the pics come through
I have never used anything but weld to hold the tube in.
Did you mean they welded the tube together? Or, welded the tube to the pump housing??
Welded to the housing is quite common. A common failure for the tube to slip out, so a tack of weld keeps the parts where they belong.
sorry about that will under stood now 3/8 to 1/2 got it ... now they did weld the tube to the pump and welded the tube together it had a couple dog legs in it ,, the pic would show it ,,,, i guess we agree on 40 weight for summer and maybe 10w 40 for winter,, i did get a wix filter ,,
post #6 i said what filler rod i use for welding a steel pickup to a iron pump body . but no big deal :)

any of you guys use this gasket ??
Buy Felpro Oil Pan Gasket Set OS 34510 T at Advance Auto Parts
That's the best type gasket to use, good choice. If you get the pan and pickup verified and it all checks out. Your problem could be a bearing clearance issue and that's my guess on your problem. Does it stay at 10 psi even under a load, meaning during acceleration ?
thanks i'll get that gasket ,, i have the felpro now and i watch alot of videos and they had the blue one ,, i'll keep you guys posted about the PSI
nope still could be others things not just bearings but no one reads any post s as this was covered way back . still ten pounds at idle is ok but that was in some post on this . that gasket is ok comes with the helping hands with the gaskets did many with out the one pc gasket that gasket takes all the fun out of the job
update
i used a normal gasket , i was affraid i was going to have to remove it ,, its all well no leaks ,, now on start up cold , i was getting 45 to 50 PSI ,, after hot running about 180 to 190 deg it was about 15 PSI but as soon as i give it the gas it shot up to 40 or so maybe more ,, , so i am going to drive it for a while and see what happens ,,
thanks to all the guys that give me info several times ,,
well i went out driving and ,, i am not happy with oil pressure ,, driving about 1500 rpm i am only showing around 20lb and at idle 700 or so i show lower , its hard to say ,, here is a pic to what i have
