New project......1963 willys jeep!
Hello everyone.
Back again with a new project.
Will be posting pictures tomorrow as I forgot my camera cable at work......
This one will be big fun...as I plan on a army theme with it, to go with my military surplus store as advertising
Not a purist army build.....more of a themed type thing...historical correctness is not a must.
I am going for a bare bones, simplistic, durable, minimalistic build........a jeep!
Here is the break down on it as the former owner had little info and it has been worked on and had parts added would be a understatement.
Fairly stock body...possibly some fender hood changes.
Engine has been swaped to apparently a 225/231 oddfire buick ...still not 100 percent positive, but based on the odd idle sounds, It looks possible to be one . I am developing a liking to the sound and will be sticking with this engine for this one!
Looks like the steering box has been changed/re located, which needs attention...a long with the suspension had been altered and needs attention....enuff so the former owner turned white when I mentioned taking a test ride at freeway speeds.
Looks like it will need a total rewire as it has been butchered on by many many people
The brake/clutch bar is in need of serious attention......choke needs attention, parking brake needs attention, trnsfer case needs attention, interior needs attention, paint needs attention..........
Why can`t I be like sane people and buy a ride that's needs to be driven.....Its gunna take longer than u thought and its gunna cost more too(plan ahead!)

That's a nice CJ5 with a good stance. Are those 33's, or maybe even 35's?Roger

Not at all! The more serious the off roading the bigger the meats. Real off roading is mostly crawling, with bursts of power to climb particularly challenging verticals, and the name of the game is ground clearance. 35's are about the limit for sensible highway running, and with that aggressive tread those will be "talking" to you pretty loud.Roger

We managed to get a couple of other small things taken care of. One was blacking out the front of the core support. When the sun hit the front of the car just right that green paint on the core...
