new mig, i have ?
I picked up this schumaker mig about a year ago. I've been slowly proceeding towards getting it going. I've rewired the shop main feed, used 10AWG stranded 4-conductor cable. Upgraded the 30 amp fuse box with a small breaker box. Wired a 220V receptacle. Gave the welder a suitable plug. Picked up a bottle. And today, found my starter spool,(.060).
I'm really excited, almost ran test beads regardless of being showered and dressed ready to host my bi- weekly poker tournament at the VFW!
Anyway, I think I have a 40-60 mix in the bottle ( told him to give me the best mix for mild steel ). The guage is rated l/min what is a good setting?
Also, this starter spool won't last long. What is best dia for sheet metal?
Thanks in advance

I use a 75/25 (25% Argon) Mix for Steel, and I set my Gauge for 15 CFH (not sure what that converts to l/min)-
As for Wire, on 18 Gauge CRS I like .030 ER70S6, but I have also used .025 with success (I like the Lincoln Wire)-

Like 35WINDOW I use the 75/25 CO2/Argon mix, and my regulator is also set for 15 CFH which is just a hair over 7 LPM (7.08). My regulator will back up to about 30 CFH trigger off, and then drop to the regulated 15 CFH with the trigger on. I also use the 0.030" wire, but I've always used Hobart/Miller wire because that's what's stocked at Tractor Supply and my welding supply shop.

is your .060 wire a flux core ???

This is not flux core.
My weld tips are rated 060-023
Oh, and I double checked.. my gas is 75-25

Thx RS, I had dialed it in 'by ear' to 5 lpm. I'll increase to 7.

I made metal stick together today. 7 lpm seems to do fine.
This thing knocks my flux core out of the park.
