WHat were you using for torch tip, etc. etc.
The proverbial row of nickels is in there.. now it's practice practice practice..
For the first time....not bad.

Um.. AC, 110 runnin volts, pure tungsten rod, pedal to the metal. I pretty much let the instructor set it up. He welded one side, then I welded the other.
After I finished this, I welded together all the aluminum test pieces my class turned out on the lathe and end mill. After I welded all the pieces together, I started running beads over all the flat surfaces. In the process, I accidentally grabbed a 308 rod, and discovered that it is ridiculously hard to weld aluminum with a stainless steel rod!
That looks really nice for just starting out for sure!
