I am glad you stayed and hope you learn something from the older guys, wisdom is something you aquire and not learn and it comes with hard knocks and these guys have it so just keep an open mind and learn, in the world of hot rods your bouncing around with some true super heroes (literally) here, anyone on here knows how many hours and dollars as well as sacrifices there are to build a car so your sort of preaching to a choir on that note. I am a scout leader so I devote a lot of time to teaching youth (for free) and talk a bunch about rods with young guys, how long something takes is irrelavant in our world of rodding as the toil invested by a youth is not in the same persepective as an adult, ex. many finished cars on here where probably started while you where in your early years of elementary school and countless hour have been dumped weekly into them, full rebuilds take anywhere from 1000 to 4000 hours to complete, something hard to even imagine when I was your age. Have fun, we need more youth into our hobby is my belief but use some respect as alot on here have earned it.
Nobody is questioning wether your motor is a legit 350, though one of the best motors in history they are very very common in hot rodding they are wanting casting # for performance reasons as these motors came in smogger motors as well as high performance, ex you can have the best parts in the world but if your 350 has smogger heads on it its being strangled to death! (Most rodders keep a sacrificial sbc around just because) 10k is not much for "specialty" motors but for a sbc it is quite a bit to get into it as these motors are the cheapest at turning $ in horsepower and every motor has a limit on hp, in sbc's you should be getting into some pretty exotic parts for that kind of dough so thats why the questions, we didn't see shiny billet heads or supechargers, efi etc or anything, not saying it not possible just some tell tale signs they look for (valve covers and air cleaners are irrelavant). Take care & Have fun
The fuel pump is an efi fuel pump. its running a regulator further up the line to bring the pressure down to a usable amount (i believe its set to 5 psi but its been awhile since i looked at it)
and as for the questioning if the motor is a legit 350 "This kid has a warmed over 305 with a flat tappet Thumpr cam" i just wanted to restate that it was indeed a 350 punched to 355.
and keep in mind that its in Canadian funds which is around 7k U.S. also remember that the shipping on the parts would have been more, our taxes here, etc... there is a stuff you guys down in the us may not know money wise when building up here in canada with our economy. I was just saying what the bill i was shown was.
