Steele rubber products

I need to add some outer door seals to Rita, I've been looking at Steele and have heard of them but never bought anything from them before. They're expensive but I'm fine with that as long as their good. I need the self sticking ones and so far my locally sourced universal seals fall off fairly quickly, like right away. I could put on the factory ones but I overlooked that on the assembly and now I would almost need to take the doors off to do it because there is very little room to work with up front. I really, really don't want to take the doors off.

3M makes some wonderful spray contact adhesive. The industrial strength really sticks.

You said that the doors would ALMOST need to be removed to install the ones you have. So why pay for another set?

remove the doors. clean really well. coat both rubber and jam with convertible top adhesive . let set until tacky then install carefully.

Just another tip, if you are worried your doors will have to be aligned again try this, I drill through each hinge in 2 places with a 1/8 drill bit before removing any bolts, that way when you are hanging the doors I grab a couple short 1/8" pieces of welding rod bent into "L" angles (just so I can push them through the holes that have been drilled) and then put in all the bolts and tighten and pull the rods and your back where you started.

If I would take the doors off I would use the factory ones I have, It will be worth the $100 to use self sticking ones if they are good so i can keep my doors on. I shouldn't have said " almost take the doors off " in my original post. they would definitely have to be taken off. Mattyj, I like your 1/8 rod tip for the the hinges, it do have 1/8 holes in the skin going into the hinge for a visual but not all the way through like a pin. Thanks for the replies, they help if I go a different route ,but they don't answer my question.

I used some steele brand weatherstripping on some 67-72s and they were good quality. That was years back so I can't say what they're like now. I used precision everywhere I could on my 72. They make the best rubber for those trucks from my experiences.

When I put the glass in my 48 I bought some budget priced seals first, which worked on the rear glass but the one for the windshield was a terrible fit. I ended up going to Steele for that one and it fit really nice.

Speaking for myself, I wouldn't hesitate to pull doors to save a C note, but opinions vary inversely to the depth of one's wallet.

Steele is a great product, definitely worth the extra bucks to get a good seal!

I think this is going to have to wait for a winter project, I thought I had a lot of spare time this summer but that changed as usual :LOL:
