My Rod update..

Last week, I posted a thread about Welding body panels. i'd like to say thank you to everyone who gave me advice, it proved to be very helpful.

I started on the hood yesterday, pulled all the emblems off and had to tack weld the hood latch to the inside of the hood. At first i was a little nervous about the adventure but turned out to be very easy.

I have to say I was very pleased with how the job turned out and how EASY it was. Thanx again for everyone's advice. I have about 10 more pictures on my camera then I'll post some ASAP.

I would like to see some pic's rodz'nrangerz, sounds like you are moving right along. I myself am finally ready for my new IFS to be installed.

As you have found out, the people here have been a big,big help with my rod and I for one am also very greatful and proud to be a part of this forum.

Way to go guys...you're making great progress! I don't have much to report, just finished cutting a piece out of the new floorboard, and built a piece to fit over the transmission...

We are in the process of looking for seats for the Stude right now...we were hoping to find bucket seats from an Explorer or something like that, with power on both sides...We haven't found what we're looking for yet (or should I say, in our price range!) :rolleyes:

We want to find the seats before we put the braces in under the cab for the seats...that way we know what the bolt pattern, etc. is... Is this usually the way it's done? Any advice would be great! :3dSMILE:

I don't know how the wrecking yards are where you are at but Explorer seats are spendy but nice. Some of the older nissan seats and supra seats where power and somewhat cheaper although a nice seat. I used the buckets and back seat out of a '89 cavilier because the high back on the rear seat fit my '48 so well. They are not power though, I had a bad experiance with power seats and fire so they where out of the question for me.

I was able to fabricate the mounts to fit the front stock holes and just put a 2" square metal plate under the rear underneath the car.

If you can find seats from a 1999+ Chevy or GMC extended cab truck (LS or LT) they are power and have the 3 point seatbelt built into the seat. LS have fabric, LT are leather. They are also very comfortable. I have a 2001 Silverado and love the seats. I wish they would fit in my '53 Starlight!

Hey Pat - We have a 1999 GMC Sierra, and we love the seats in that too! Something like that would be fine too, especially since the seat belts are built in.

And yes, Streets, it seems that most of the Explorers around here are wrecked, but that's OK, cause we're gonna get them re-upholstered anyway...

It seems that the seats that we are wanting are kind of spendy, but hey, what can I say...I got good taste! :3dSMILE:

Hey caddy STS seats are cool and so are 530 SL Benz seats, why stop with some bogus yankee seat for a lousey couple hundred bucks!!:D :D :D

Forget that. I find that the swiviling captians chairs out of the mid 70s cutlasses are Very comfortable, and cool too. Something about being able to turn left and exit. Great for us taller people.

I'm using electric black leather seats from a '99 Toyota Camry in my '50 Champ.
They fit real nice and look twice as sharp.

Any pic's yet Rodz'nrangers? I would like to see how yer doin' so far. Is the drivetrain stock in your plymouth?

I finally got an opportunity last weekend to get a couple of pictures of my 39 chevy progress. A few more body modifications and it is off to be media blasted and primered.

Is that a March Pulley bracket kit, the New Ultra Compact ? http://www.marchpulleys.com/pg58a.html

If not, what is it. How long is your Sanden Compressor ? Mine's an older long style, may not work with that kit.

What or who's steering pump did you use? At present I have a GM Saginaw pump, I might have to use a Corvette or similar pump.

I need a bracket kit I can use that will clear my 144 B&M Blower drive.
