Does anyone know how to repair a starter mount on a chevy 305?
it is a angle mount bolt up, and the outer starter bolt snapped off of the block. any ideas, please help?:confused:

Grind the 2 pieces back to make a groove. Pre-heat the area you wanna' weld, then weld it with a nickel rod. But.... if you get it too hot it may crack next to the bead. Another idea is to braze it with a bronze rod. Heat the area first to a dull red then flow the bronze rod in the gap. Use "Cast Iron" brazing flux. If there is room, I would drill and peg the ear in place first.Quote:

The absolute best way would be to heat the whole block in a furnace bringing the temp up slowly welding it then cooling it slowly. But, then you would have to re-machine all the surfaces and bores. It's just a 305. How much work do you want to put into a 305???
or u could take a flat plate and use the bellhousing bolts to fasten it and let the plate hang down for a ear.how did this happen?
