9'' Ford
I have a 39 Chevy Iwould like to put in a 9'' Ford rearend, an it came out of a truck. The rearend that came out is 58 1/2 to where the wheels mount.
My question, will I be OK to make it 56'' an what should I be aware of by cutting an making it shorter.
Thanks

You will need a jig of some kind to keep everything square. You will need the axles shortened and resplined. Sometimes you can get lucky and have one axle shaft shorter than the other. This was common on some trucks and vans. If you can get two short shafts that fit your requirements, you only have to cut one axle housing end. Ford rear ends are seldom centered (driveshaft) so you need not worry about that .

you will need to redrill the bolt pattern to match your wheels. FORD TRUCKS USE A 5 on 5 1/2" BOLT CIRCLE and you will need to move the spring mounts.KEEP ON CRUISIN'
