I've been looking for a repair manual for my T/A...None of the autoparts stores carry one for my make model year engine config. I found one online and i'm wondering if it's a decent one...Some of the publishers don't make a manual for the 301 Turbo Engine...But Chilton's does....Would that be a good one to buy? Why not get the real manual? They're cheap and written by GM for the dealerships. Helm Inc. publishes the GM manuals

in the document type heading since some manual titles are
different.

Hey, thanks for the info...the real deal would be best...when I went to the site...the description is for the Firebird...and it's not specific enough...so i'm afraid i'd get it and it won't cover the 301 Turbo version of the T/A's...what do ya think?
Helm, Inc. is in Highland Park.....call them and see if a customer service person will look. Usually, the manual covers all the typical factory stuff but......tell them you are having trouble finding info regarding the turbo engine and ask them to look in the table of contents.....OR go to a Pontiac dealer and beg to look at their 81 Firebird manual.......theirs is the same....printed by Helm.
The manuals are worth the price just because of the wiring diagrams.

if you can get the gm manual, you'll be glade you did, the chilton is not in the same class as the gm manual. the dif. in the cost is worth it. i have some olds.& caddy shop manuals i used back in the 60s that i wouldn't sell of anything. :D

The Helm manuals are nice but also expensive. 78ta.com sells the service and parts manuals considerably cheaper than Helm's, but on CD-Rom. They are suppose to be GM licensed as OEM.
I use a CD version of the service and parts manuals with my Studebaker. No more greasy finger prints staining the pages. Just print another set. :)
