the ? is do you or don't you have a turn signal switch on the car? if you only got a 2 wire light socket and you wont tail lights, brake lights and turn signals you have to go through a turn signal switch which will cancel out the brake lights(which ever one you have on) when you are making a turn. if the car don't have a turn signals switch on it then you have to have a 3 wire light or add a light to both sides, if you have a turn signal switch then thats where the problem is.

Plus, coming out of the turn signal switch to the rear, you need a right and left wire to the brake light side of the bulb. You can't run one wire to both bulbs or your turn signal will never work.

yep, thats one of the things that the turn signals do. they take the brake light wire coming into the switch and when it comes out you have 2 wires a right and left going to the rear. when you put on the brakes both lights, light up as brake lights and when you turn on the turn signal to the right the switch cancels out the right brake light and blinks and the left one stays on as a brake light, when you turn left it does the opposite. the 4 way use the same 2 wires, and cancels out both brake lights.:D
