Sweet man, sounds awsome. Can't wait to see what you come up with. The setup you just mensions sounds really cool and is what I plan to get for my truck once I buy a CD player. Are you going with 10" or 12" subs? If you need to save space then go with a 10" but I am sure you will be fine. Also the spare won't do nothing to the sound.... get some dynamat or whatever that stuff is called and get the medium grade and put it in the truck and go to Home depot and find some strips of backsided sticky foam and put around anything that will rattle such as your license plate.
I am glad I was a help. Get some pics of your car and your system when you can I wanna check it out and see what you come up with. Also a tip on the box. Ask Kicker their reccomended demensions for the subs and tell them you want' to use pexiglass. Another thing for the box is you can make the box out of wood and cover it with that carpet like or tweed material and then on top of the box make a pexiglass box that will fit the amp and that way you can see the amp and you can put a few breather holes in it and then a light or something if you wan't it for show. I got millions of ideas.... I should make some and sell em and actually make some money towards my car haha. :)

yea u do have some good ideas but i dont know whos gonna fork over dough for ideas only products from those ideas
got any pics of your car and sound system?

My car is in a million pieces getting built still and a long way to go. I took all my truck pictures off the computer when I got a virus. I will get some more later. I don't even have any system at the moment. Yeah I know, your wondering why I have a sponsorship from Kicker and no system. lol Reason why is because the CD player in there is broke and I need a new one and looking at a good one to get but I need to save some money for it and then I will get the Kicker system sent into me. When I get it all I will send in pics. I may put 15" Solo X's in the rear under the back seats of the truck and some nice speakers but I am not into all that bass unless it's a song like No Quarter from Led Zep or something like that. For my car, I won't have a system in there most likely, I don't care for putting systems in old cars. For something like you have and a convertable it would be sweet but not for what I got. Who know's, I may change my mind, but right now I need to see about Kicker sending me a big system for my party boat. :)

Check out dearbourne classics, they have a CD player that can be connected to a changer elsewere in the car ( normally in the trunk ), it fits in the original spot and looks like an original raido, they also have the kick panals with speaker openings and any other restoration part you may need. I got a catalog today in the mail for my Falcon, I ordered it about 3 weeks ago, catalogs are free.

what do you think about two of these to power my subs?

Galaxie, the raido I'm talking about is 599.95, heres the features, AM/FM stereo casset
6 disc cd changer controller ( changer comes with 599.95 model )
seperate bass and trebel
local/ long distance button
auto reverse
L&R balance
fast forward and rewind
tape and stereo indicator
electric tuner
pre set scan
100 watts high power
18 presets
seek and scan
metal tape coppatable
rca pre outs
Chrome face
music search
original ford logos
The CD changer is somehow used with the tape deck, probably means the tape deck buttons cause there the electric type and not the raido buttons that are connected maually.

Those amps don't look too great or seem to great for that cheap. I never heard of them or nothing and they aren't a big name so I doubt they are any good. You can use em and all but I am not sure how long they would last before they blew or anything. If it were me and I wanted a nice system I wouldn't go cheap, buy the good stuff and only have to buy once.

i was checking kickers amps and to get one with good power is over 1000 dollars
-
Yeah.... Pretty expensive. It's all up to you though, it's yours.

well im a new guy to this site.. but i also recently finished puting a system in my 1950 chevy pickup.. its got the xploid dual face cd player, the polk audio 5 1/4 components with the 1 1/2 in. tweeters... a very cheap 100 watt amp powering them two, polk audo 5x7's... two 10" rockford fosgate power hx2 subs... that are 2000 watts max each.. they are loud as hell... but i only have a 600 watt kenwood running them...
when i went to buy my amp the guy told me to never go by the wattage the amp says because they usually over rate the amps BIG TIME.... for example... the sony xploid amps... you have probably seen the good old 1200 watt amp... well its true rating is only about 400 watts MAX.... dont ask me why .. but they do... so if you do ask me... i would definetally say the more money you pay.. the more watts you get...
dunno if this info helps out but i thought id let you know.... good luck with your system...
ill try to get pics up of mine soon
