Needing springs for front end

ok so I cant remember my password for K9 hot rod lol. Anyway, I have a 1948 Chevy truck with a 1983 camaro front end. I am looking for a set of FRONT springs to drop it at least two inches. I feel that if I go 2 inches I can get the rest from low profile tires. Any suggestions on where I can get the springs for just the front? I found a co called street beat but they want me to buy the kit and I dont need the rear springs. I already have quite the collection of spare parts and dont want to wast the $$. I use to race stock cars and know better than to cut the spring if I dont want to beat myself to death every time I drive the truck. Can anybody suggest a chrome shop? I want to get the grill and bumpers re-chromed.

They have just the front. I have a 79 Camaro front end on my 48 Coupe and am trying to see what kind of springs and all I need on my car too, I don't know if 2 inch dropped ones will be too low or not.
For chroming I don't know of one but if you want powder coating then let me know, I have a powder coating kit and got chrome powder from columbia that is really nice and looks like real chrome and that is what I am going to do to my bumpers and grill, rear end, etc.

I have seen powder coating on tv (american chopper) but havent seen it in person. What does the chrome coating look like? Does it look good enough to do a grill? Thanks for the web site info as well.

Yes, I think it does. If you throw a clear coat over it then it gives it even more of that shine and it won't chip up so easy. Thing that is different about powder coating from chrome plating is that chrome plating is really hard and chips easier, it is not pliable AT ALL so any flex cracks it of course and somewhat thick which yeah is good until it cracks or chips. Powder coating has about 75% of the hardness of chrome plating, it's very pliable and is thick compaired to paint, etc. Also because it's pliable, rocks, etc will bascially bounce off a properly cured part instead of chipping it, that's if whoever you have PC the part does it right with the right thickness and cures it correctly including clear coating.
That's just some info to take in. I was going to chrome plate my stuff as well but thought that since I got powder coating I might as well just do that and thought that I may not be as happy with it because it's not CHROME PLATING but I read that and took it into consideration so now I would rather PC it.
I am not trying to get you to have me pc it or anything, I am not trying to get business here through the boards even though I said I do it, etc but I just wanted to give you some more info.

Thats great news man! Thanks for the info. I looked at the web sites you offered and it looks like i can get 1 inch lower springs but thats it. I hate that I have to spend the $$ and get the rear as well when I dont need them. I believe the front springs on teh camaro is a 600# spring. I have some friends I use to race stock cars with back in Alabama and in Florida I can call but I'm afraid its going to be the same news. Thanks for the help.

Call both of the places, I am pretty sure they will split the cost. Auto Zone should have them as well, that is where I am getting everything for mine at. Call Hotchkis and ask if you can get them for JUST the front, they will most likely do it. Hotchkis I hear makes really good parts and they will help you out if you need it. If I find anything else I will let you know, I am still looking for stuff for my front end too and sometimes come across springs and all. Right now I am going to go with Hotchkis probably but I need to figure out about the ride height and how this thing will sit with 2" lowered springs... then there are the shocks, that's a different story. haha. I see you live in Charleston, SC, I go down there quite a bit. It's a pretty sweet place, there's more to do there than there is here in boring NC. :)
