Info on fabricating tube shock mounts

Can anyone provide help on how to fabricate brackets (ie. dimensions, placement of brackets, materials, etc.) for a tube shock conversion to an "A" frame? I have seen some installations with a stud welded to the underside of the axle outboard of the wishbone attachment point, and a simple bracket welded to the frame. In this set up the shocks are at about 45 degrees, rather than almost vertical. Any thoughts on this arrangement? I run a dropped I beam axle with lever shocks now. The lever shocks are in good shape. Am I likely to see a worthwhile improvement in ride by converting to tube shocks?

Improvement of the ride depends on the weight of the car. Heavier cars ride better with tube shocks. The angled mounting gives a bit more side to side stability on these cars with transverse springs and spring shackles. Just make sure they don't bind during operation.
