the bars shouldnt have anything to do with how stiff the suspension is. springs has the most to do with how stiff a car is and shocks can effect the feel also. you have to make sure the bars let the dif. housen move up and down smooth without binding, but that wouldnt be the bars, but the way they was put on. :HMMM: :confused:Quote:

Ladder bars have nothing to do with. What kind of rear set up do you have? The coils springs are what you adjust. It all depends on how you have it set up, the travel, etc etc. More detail on what you have may help some of us answer your problem.
bolt in lader bars moroso trick springs with edlbrock shocks i also have hotckins lower arms and adj upper control arms. the car an,t transfering weight .
If you have ladder bars on a Chevelle, did you remove the stock upper and lower control arms - or just add ladder bars?
If you have both, the suspension would be binding up and feel reallly stiff.
sounds like you got to much stuff under there. give us some pic or part #s so we can know what you have. :confused:Quote:

Just a suggestion. When you ask a question like this, you need to fill in some details. We don't even know what year your Chevelle is. You didn't tell us you had both ladder bars and modified stock trailing arms. You didn't tell us what Hotchkis setup you used. That makes it really hard to give you a good answer.
You definitely have too much stuff hooked up. Your suspension is binding. To keep the ladder bars, you would need to disconnect everything else and install a panhard bar or track bar to locate the rear axle left to right. However, I DON'T do that - especiallly with a bolt-on ladder bar. Stick with modifying the trailing arm system.
The GM 4-bar trailing arm suspension can be made to work really well. If you've replaced all 4 of your trailing arms with adjustable Hotchkis parts, you should be able to make it work.
Otherwise, you can install the Lakewood lift bars.
In any case, forget the bolt on ladder bars. Not a good solution.
68 chevelle, so go with the lift bars set the pinion angle keep the adj upper arms bolt on the 28 10.5 slicks and go
this should be the best set up right
