leaf springs/39 Ford
The Son of a friend of mine is working on a 1939 Ford 2 dr sedan. He is going low buck - he's looking for leaf springs that will fit The rear. Most springs are too long. He wants to order them from JC Whitney who has free shipping on their cat items. Most springs cost $49-$69/each.
I do not know of any leaf spring that will not be too long......Don

Chassis engineering used to include in their catalog some info regarding rear springs. Dodge truck of some type that were the correct length to work with their mounts. A friend went that route, only to change them to the CE springs later. The Dodge springs were much to "bouncy" as I recall. Joe

Thanks Joe - I remember those. AS I recall they had too high of a spring rate.
Any other suggestions out there?

Don If you can get me the measurements for the springs I might be able to help you out as I have alot of new and used from the 30 -70's.

Chevy 37 - thanks I'll get the dimensions tomorrow.......Don

Chevy 37 - The critical dimension is from the spring center bolt to the centerline of the rear eye.
That measurement is 29" maximum..........thanks for the help!

Don I'm sorry. Thought I could help but allmine are longer than 29"

I'm putting leaf springs on a 37 Ford coupe. Dodge springs seemed a little heavy. AMC Hornet springs work. Just redrill the center hole in the main spring to center it.

seen some guys using dodge/Chry mini van springs on stuff. they are a mono leaf composite spring & ride low. may work.....joe
