Doing a 65 chevy truck for strip with some cruising in mind?

I have the truck down to the bare frame right now,and I am starting set up the suspension for drag racing.I was going to keep the stock truck arm supension in the rear(which I hear is very good),but since I am starting from scratch ,I might as well bring in a four link .What do you guys think?I will still be doing some occansional driving on the street too.


I am also going to add strenth to the frame to help keep it from twisting during hard launches. Should I box the entire frame?

I guess it depends on how stout the mill is going to be. Trucks usually have a hard time hooking up due to the light ass end, this is where a 4-link or a 4-bar will help. How fas do you intend to run?

Sorry, didn't read your other post. Looks like you will be shootin at mid to low 11's with 600 HP. It won't hook up at all on the street... no matter what you have. 4-links tend to ride kind of rough on the street, but so what. Tech Inspector can advise you on the kind of cage you will need for NHRA.

move weight to the rear...like the fuel cell and batt...i'd work with the swingarm...box the frame or run some round tube along with it(chromoly)...beef up the pivot area and lose the rubber in there...but definitely run a good sway bar...it'll kill the twist....use as much fiberglass on the body as you can...even redo the floorpan and firewall in alum or chromoly for weight...if youre gonna make a strip truck dont be afraid to hack stuff and rebuild or relocate it

Going to use a fiberglass front end,would also love to change the front cross member to one of those Mustang 11 ones ,but for now it going to be the stock crossmember with tubular a arms.
Also going to box in the frame where possible .
