Guys, this has been discussed here before, cast vs forged MII spindles (or any for that matter). Well, on a Chevy pickup forum I visit....it happened..check it out. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=224022
I just can't see myself driving down the highway on those spindles.

Had to be a bad casting... But I use and sell nothing but forged spindles anyway... Given the choice between cast and forged anything, forged has got to be better and stronger.....
Sure it had to be a bad casting, but I just couldn't get over that one, sorry. There is NO WAY I would take another spindle from the company and put it on my car, NO WAY. This is a SPINDLE, not a stereo bracket.

I'm not a fan of cast spindles, but there's another line of thought on this. Cast spindles that I've seen are not completely cast, but rather a composite of two different metals. The part that failed is not likely cast. The spindle snout is machined from steel and installed in the spindle main structure. Looking at the picture from the link posted, the grain is unlike what I'd expect to see in the characteristics of a casting. The fracture appears to be more from incorrect heat treating; something that could occur in a forged spindle also. Even though this may be an anomaly, I wouldn't buy a cast spindle if a forged one were available.
