I have a leaf spring set up and wanted to get the truck up higher 1-2". The rear end is sitting on top of the leafs so blocks wont work. If I lower the hangers about 1" down will this screw up anything? Can I just move the back hangers or do I need to do the front also?
You can move the hangers to lower a truck so I don't see why you couldn't move them to raise one too. If you have the room, that is.
You will alter the pinion angle if do only one end though. I had that happen on a Chevy truck that I dropped 2" with shackles. It kicked the nose of the rearend down several degrees.
Back in the day, we used to put longer shackles on the back end, and wedges to get the pinion angle back where it was.
Did I miss something? BTD wanted to raise the truck. I think it was mis-spoken. Adding a block would lower it even more. How about moving the perches to the top of the axle. Did I misread something? I know old timer's disease is creeping up on me.
Nope Nitro, you didn't misread it.
I don't have much experience with raising things up. Never got into things that needed it.
Pinion angle would change whether you're going up or down on one end only.
I didn't intend to confuse anyone.:)
if you relocate the springs to over the axle you would probably gain 4-5 inches, all you need for that is new perches for the springs and new u-bolts
