Is there such a thing? Is there a direct (or close) replacement for a manual vega box to convert over to power steering?
I poked around and did some searches, didn't come up with anything...

If an '82 'maro is close, I got one---even the matching steering column!!!!
I am trying to help someone out, hes got a vega box, but the car is slightly too heavy for it. The clearance around the box is tight (and the car is finished) was hoping to find something that could easily swap in there without much fabrication...
Not sure but I think the Vega power steering box was a Saginaw 605...dont know about the mounting pattern and if the input is longer to accommodate the spool. Maybe some else on here has done the research.
no kidding? a 605? Thats what I am going to put in my heavy chevy...
I'll check and see what the old 'maro box is Gus...too lazy to go out to the garage now... but they are small and compact.....
If you can't find a Vega, try a Monza or Olds or the Buick that were all the same chassis
605 is the smallest p/s unit you want. The mounting bolt pattern is the same for the 140 (vega), 525 (manual) and 605 (many year and model midsize) and 700 (variable rate p/s). If I recall the input is 2 1/2" longer than the Vega, although some 525 came with either, so he'll probably have to shorten his steering shaft.Quote:
