Looking for a quality chassis shop in the southeast to build a 34 Ford chassis, boxed original frame, split bones, drilled dropped front axle with functional fakes brakes, 9" rear on coil overs, set up for sbc with tremec 5 peed. Anyone know of a quality shop where I can get this done? Thanks
I have 4 Lee Nottingham frames with Downs bodies I'm thinking about selling--whay body style you looking for?
Already have a steel body for this project, thanks.

If you're not wanting to use the original frame call Duane Noblett at N&N Fiberglass Reproductions and get in line for one of his premium roller chassis. He does a great job on the frame, and he knows the dimensions for the Tremec because he did one for me four years ago. Link here - N & N Fiberglass He can't help you on taking an original frame and doing all the mods, but if you want new he's the best value you can find.Quote:

I am in Florida, but would be willing to travel as far north as the Carolinas or Tennessee

gypsy, please dont take offense but you're not helping your own cause. You're not giving us much information to go on. A quality chassis builder should have lots of questions for you to answer. Maybe this will get the ball rolling.
1, Do you already have an original '34 frame (from your 1st post) or are you wanting someone to build a complete chassis for you?
2, What type of car are you building, a traditional '40s, '50s, '60s, etc or a mixture of styles? (you also mentioned "split bones, drilled dropped front axle with functional fakes brakes" but then you mention a 9" rear on coil overs", why not a buggy spring in the rear to continue the theme of the old school front end?) These are things you need to consider.
Do you know exactly what you want? We don't but we're willing to help!!

well you have been given 3 contacts in Alabaqma and Tennesee---you said you d travel to Ten and ya gotta go thru Ala to get there so theres 3 for you-----------also, I'd remove a body from one of mine or build another??????????
I have an original frame that i wish to have boxed with dimpled hole plates and 32 front horns.
Have the drilled, 4" dropped original axle with a set of deuce manufacturing functional fake Buick style brakes.
Have a set of 32 bones that are drilled and sleeved.
Stainless spindles, steering arms, drag link, and tie rods, with cross steering
Dual pedals
Rear of frame will be bobbed and for ride and adjustability i want to use coilovers on a 9' Ford rear with drum brakes

Next would be going to shows locally, and walking around asking people with high dollar trailer queens if they used a shop for their chassis work. If that doesn't work for you how about trolling through the latest NSRA Fellows book, which lists guys & gals who are willing and able to help rodders on the road, and make a few calls to see if local people in your region have shops that they recommend, or maybe better that they know to avoid? I think you'll find that most of the guys & gals on CHR are hands on, DIY people as opposed to check writers looking for shops to do the work.

I too, did a lot of my own work till I had a stroke a couple of months ago and now have a couple of projects that I cannot finish myself.
Gypsy, I wasn't meaning to be critical, but you seemed to be frustrated that you weren't getting a bunch of answers, and I was just trying to help you understand that the guys & gals here often don't have a lot of shop references as they tend to prefer doing as opposed to paying to a large degree. Hopefully some of the links in those google searches shown above will pan out for you and you can find a good shop that satisfies your needs. There were a couple of shops that seemed to keep popping up, and their ads looked pretty good. One that caught my eye was Carolina Street Rods in Oxford. Don't know anything about them, but their experience list looked pretty good, if they're not too expensive....Quote:
