This just struck me as odd. Id replaced the stock IFS on my 65 mustang with a straight axle to lift the nose(gasser style). Yet I replaced the straight axle on my 52 pickup with an IFS via a 65 galaxie to lower the front end.
Is it just as hot rodders we cant leave well enough alone. Ive done all this work and basically have just given each what the other hads originaly.
The mustang needed lift and the truck just sat waaaay to high. yeah, thats it!:D:D:3dSMILE:
How did that 65 Galaxie swap work out? Are they a sub frame or a full frame?
Well, I guess ya could look at it this way, ya gotta lotta good experience (read worked your ass off) to make the '52 ride better than any old farm truck ever shoulda' and ya also made the Mustang ride worse than Lee Ia Coke uh ever woulda' thought possible. In other words, you did it.....not somebody else. Aint that the name of the game? To this day I still say that Dr. Frankenstein woulda' been a Hot Rodder given the chance.:LOL:Quote:

yes its a full frame but it does bellow out just in front of the drivers seat. I just clipped the frame off past the firewall before it widened. It actually mated up fairly well, the galaxies frame was 30 inches wide and the trucks was 32. Since they both used 3x6 rails, I just had to scab onto the outside of the two with a piece of angle iron to fill the gap.Quote:

I do have to agree though IFS's get her nice an low now, after getting rid of her 3/4 ton front suspension and 18 inch tires, shes only 3 inches off the ground in the front. The front end swap and running 15's made her drop 9 inches!
Was just wondering. I used a Nova clip on my 51 Ford. Worked well. Like you say, it drops them quite a bit. Mine sits about 6 in off the ground at the front of the fenders.
Damn thats a nice green Poncho! Hope my truck looks half that nice when it gets all together again.
