Must. II on 29 Ford
Today's ? is anyone on this forum used a complete Mustang II front susp. on a 29 Ford? including the subframe? reason I ask I hit a few cruises last 2 weeks & have seen a couple 28-29's with MII frontends, crossmember & all. but the car owners were not around to ask for how to info. their chairs were there but not them:confused: I have found a MII for $150 so I figured what the hey, throw out the ? here. if that isnt feasible or smart, any suggestions on whose subframe to go with using all the other parts from the II? thanks in advance.& yes I did a search but didnt find a specific answer to using the whole MII under a 28-29:cool:

Heidts has a universal M2 kit that will work however, you must put bublles in the fenders for the upper control arms to clear.

i'll check heidts out. I know fatman makes an ifs for 28-34 fords, too. Ive been searching ifs fabricators & seems all the ones that fit under 28 fenders also require the tubular upper & lower arms that they sell w/crossmember.
the fenders on the cars I saw last 2 wknds didnt appear to have bubbled fenders. I suppose if neccessary I could bubble mine but I would like to keep em orig. they're all steel front to back.

What frame are you using??? I've put a couple of Heidt's Superride IFS on A's, but they were on Deuce rails. Great set up, looks good, rides good, handles good.

the 29 model a frame rails, they have been boxed.while i'm here what are your thoughts on power steering vs manual on this car .I guesstimate finished weight to be 2500 lbs.+/- originally thought about rebuilding the jag front susp, but if Ihave to take it apart anyway, I figured just take more time & redo front w/an MII setup:ez-er parts avail,(try finding upper ball joints for the jag 61-64:eek:) just seems best use of time, ahhh so I won't drive it this summer maybe next spring.

I personally don't think the power steering is necessary on an A with MII suspension. They steer plenty easy enough yet at low speed, and I would not want to sacrifice any of the road feel of the manual unit at high speed or put any power steering "twitchiness" into the car at cruising speed.

cant turn any harder than my old beepbeep w/manual steering. I figure start w/manual & if I get too lazy switch it later.ohh boy more cutting:) :)
