Nova coil springs
Just wanted to know if there was a straight- forward way of removing coil springs on a 76 Nova . I want to take the springs out, cut them down and re- install them . The front end sit'sup really high and I want to bring it down a bit . The motor is a 454 . Appreciate any help or any trick's of the trade.

I have a great appreciation for the amount of pressure in a coil spring and don't plan on eating one. I alway's do all my work myself. I don't own a lift but have a creeper jackstand's and a hydraulic jack. I was alway's told that heat would ruin the spring. Also to take the spring out when cutting and to use a cut off wheel on a grinder. Heat the end of the spring only slightly just enough to flatten down the end coil after cutting, is this correct? Cutting only one half of a coil at a time reinstalling and checking height.Last edited by 327,JET; 11-13-2004 at 12:22 PM.

I guess I learn something every day . I also guess that you know quite a bit about front suspensions also, no hard feeling 's. If I offended anybody I apoligize. I truly thought you were busting my chop's. Can't wait to get the Nova set up the way I want I bought it last summer and only have driven it in the driveway.
Ditto on the model kits! My best were lost when the Hobby Shop burned under suspicious circumstances....
