TH400 Filler Tube Problems
Hello People, sometimes the smallest things are the biggest pain in the rear...Can someone tell me why I cant find a black dipstick/filler tube for a TH400 in my 65 chevy? I have looked high and low and the only thing I keep coming up with is a fancy $65 braided stainless blah blah or a $20 made-in-some-foreign-country chrome plated leaker that does not "bolt right up" the way it should.....junk yards claim to not have any, dealerships claim to not have any, even the local vintage chevy parts place does not have any....am I an idiot??
(rhetorical question...please refrain from answering)....all I want is an inexpensive, black (i.e. oem or equivalent), NON-leaking transmission dipstick and filler tube. I heard that th350 tubes will fit...got one from a salvage yard (free)...it does not...any suggestions are much appreciated....
Do I just need to dig deeper in the wallet and STFU or can I get away with the cheapy ??....
Thanks for your time.
You're welcome Mike, glad it worked out for you. Roger, it's taken a few years but my inventory of excess parts has shrunk a fair bit from 1 1/2 garage stalls to about an eight by eight space. ...
