    Bolt size ?

Working on a new build and starting to install a new shifter and don't have the bolt that holds the shifter bracket that came with the shifter on the 350 trans the instructions says it a 5/16x18x3/4 nut but that looks to be too little, or is that bolt metric?

Are you talking about the two bolts that go on the top of the tailshaft to hold it to the main body? Why not just try a few different bolts out of your junk bolt box and see what fits? It shouldn't be rocket surgery.

Its an imperial bolt 5/16" x 18 tpi is a UNC thread, equivalant Metric would be 8 x 1.25 x length.

After reading my question again this morning I can't believe I asked the wrong thing, what I was trying too say was the NUT that hold's the shifter piece that came with the kit that goes over the threaded stud that stick's out of the transmission( worked too many hours this week). Thank's again

I too am more confused than before. Shouldn't be any difficulty in trying different size and thread count nuts until one fits. We must be missing something.

I thought learning Italian prepositions was tough, but that many in a row even in English has me scratching my head. . .

If you are talking about the shift sector shaft, it will be 3/8" 16 unless its a real late one, they were 10 mm by 1.5mm
Anyone can restore an old car, it takes a man to cut one up

If its a Lokar shifter i'm sure they are 3/8" UNF, thats the bolt and the nut,
Unless its a different make ???
