2 loud bangs from 700r4

I recently got my 48 GMC on the road. I had trouble with adjusting the TV cable so I bought a TV kit from Bow Tie overdrives to try to get it right.

When accelerating about 1/2 throttle I heard 2 loud bangs comming from the transmission. This was probably at or around the 3-4 shift.

It drove home (5 miles) okay at light throttle after this.

Any experts Have any ideas what happened. I know I need to drop the trans pan & see whats there, but I just had a heart operation & am not feeling well enough to do it.

did you just hear the bangs or did you feel them also. it might not be coming from the tranny. It also could be your drive shaft universals. Just something else you might want to eyeball when under there. awesome looking trck.

I was so surprised that I do not know if it was felt. It was as loud as a back fire in the exhaust, but had a different tone.

maybe some rich fuel,but love those tail lights.

I agree, poss. a rich fuel situation and a backfire. I would check the fluid to make sure it is full, crawl underneath to make sure there is not something obvious or loose and drive it again to see if it happens again. Great truck and amazing tailights. Don Jr.
