If it matches the flywheel I don't see why not
a older sbc 168 tooth fly wheel can work on a bbc stock is internal all 396to427 .external is 454 and is not the same weight as a 400 small block fly wheel can not be used on any bbc in stock form. engine s bigger then 454 can be any thing as i built them internal and external this as a lot to do with the bob weight the crank can support
I assumed he was using the bbc flywheel with 400 converter. Assuming is not a good thing
not really a flex plate they should not flex but many call them that .. but a auto fly wheel long as he as a auto fly wheel its ok if the right one. the 400 converter is ok for a bbc if stock cam a smaller core size converter may work better like out of a small sbc out of a 350 trans may help before going to a aftermarket one its been a very long time that i played with stock stuff but i did at one time use a sbc stall out of a 350 from a car seamed to stall abit more then stock 400 truck. but not like the vega one i had :)
I've got the stock 454 flex plate. And the converter is from a 308 cubic inch Holden that came with a Turbo 400.
well i did not read your first post right .i was thinking you were trying to use a sbc fly wheel and stall to a 400 trans.:o but anyways it should bolt up to the fly wheel some gm fly wheels have two bolt patterns for the smaller stall core size and some did have only one but drilled two times on the fly wheel but only one size smaller size converter may not so this should be check .it could bolt up but its a 308 Holden ?
Well I just found that I can't use the 308 converter because the bolt holes don't match.
I did. But thought that I might get a high stall for it so I'll just use the big block converter that came with it for now.
